Sustainability features

Sobreluna is designed by OPA, our architectural firm based in Mexico City, who focuses on environmentally responsible design practices. We aren’t branding ourselves as an eco-lodge, because we believe this mentality is how all developments should be approached. It shouldn't be viewed as novel or unique to care about the environment.

  • Biodigesters for all water systems and bathrooms

  • ~60% of the property is unroofed and allows for rain absorption

  • Solar powered

  • Enormous rain collection systems

  • Live gardens with water recycling

  • Ecofiltros for all provided drinking water

  • No single-use plastic on site

Also, the Sobreluna founders started @sostenible_pxm, one of the most impactful environmental community organizations in Puerto Escondido, so Sobreluna will be involved in all of their projects including monthly clean-ups, growing the free water refill network, and the plastic recycling program.
